Sonlight Core 100

Core 100 is the first high school course from Sonlight. More detailed and requiring deeper intellectual focus than previous levels, and usingA History of USseries by Joy Hakim as its foundational texts, Core 100 is a thorough exploration of American history from Columbus to modern times from a distinctly Christian perspective. Parents will want to know that Hakim's books are secular and evolutionary in approach, but there's enough Christian content you should be able to counterbalance.

Knowing other views is an essential aspect of worldview study, anyway. The literature at this level comes from an almost exclusively secular perspective, fromTo Kill a Mocking BirdandCall of the Wildto Ender's Game, though most of it praises honor and virtue and frowns on sin and evil. In addition to biographies and other texts, students also read apologetic and doctrinal books likeEvidence for JesusandWhy Prayin order to flesh out a Christian worldview.

Please Note: Sonlight Curriculum does not sell their materials to Exodus Books. We carry many of the same titles, and are often able to obtain used copies of books they publish. The following is culled from their 2013 website and includes much of their selection, though it is not comprehensive, nor is it in any sort of curricular order. For a complete listing, visit the Sonlight Curriculum website.
