Water Hole

Water Hole

by Graeme Base
Publisher: Puffin Books
Trade Paperback, 32 pages
Price: $9.99

One rhino drinking at the water hole.

“Snort, splosh!” (Mmm, delicious!)

Two tigers lapping at the water hole.

“Grrrrr!” (Goodness gracious, how delectable!)

More and more animals come, pandas and toucans and ladybugs, each wanting a drink from the water hole and each with something to say about it. But with every new arrival, the water hole becomes smaller and smaller. Soon there is none left and all the animals must leave. But one day, clouds begin to fall across the sun. It starts to rain. It rains and rains and rains, and the water hole is again full.

And all the animals come back.

“Ooola! Oooya! Wahooo!” (Yippee!)
