The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Banished from England through no fault of their own and involved in unexpected plots in their new home in America, two young English boys find themselves faced with hazardous adjustments.

It is the year 1745. There is unrest in England, with loyalties divided between King George II and Prince Charles Stuart, the Pretender. And in the new colony of Maryland in America, colonists are struggling with crops and trade.

The boys become indentured servants to a tidewater plantation owner. Ronald works at his trade as a builder and Jan serves as a boat boy. Life is not difficult until they meet up with some lawbreakers. Their misfortunes come fast and they need all their wits and courage to reinstate themselves in their new home. They succeed so well that Jan is chosen to go to England to take the traditional two arrows to the King from Maryland colony as a symbol of the original pact.

A fine, exciting story, this is rich in an historical background that will interest all young Americans.
