The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

The settling of the West, the bringing of the West into the Union of States, is a story of romance and adventure. The men who made this possible were men of high courage and they lived full, robust lives. Kit Carson was one of these men. No man was more respected for his sterling worth than he. He was loved for the homely virtues of honesty, valor and steadfastness of purpose.

It is hoped that this story of Kit Carson will help to bring back something of the adventurous spirit of the men of the old pioneer West.

—Frank L. Beals, from the book
