Moving: Chapter Four

We Keep on Living

Friday, April 30, 2010

As the boxes pile up and I work on organizing our stuff and painting our new home, I wish that normal life could be put on hold. I wish the kids came with a pause button; I wish we didn't have to eat food; I wish we could wear the same clothes day after day. Then—when life gets back to normal—I would push the play button. But that's not how life works. There really is no such thing as "normal life." There is only today: let's make the most of it.

Therefore do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?" For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. —Matthew 6:31-34
