The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!
Late in the 1700's Luther Chickering and two brothers sailed from England to Boston, seeking freedom and independence in the rebellious Colonies. One brother drifted to New York State, the other stayed in Boston, but Luther made his way up the Connecticut River to the frontier town in the Green Mountains called Danville, Vermont. It was a town in name only, for there was no cluster of houses, no church or school, only small stumpy clearings among the huge trees and rutted trails leading to them and to grist and sawmills at the rapids of the brooks This is a great book
