One can easily see the tremendous benefit to studying history chronologically from the beginning of time. It's hard to even imagine that one particular historical event can be adequately understood without the background of the events leading up to it. Have you considered the difficulty of studying the puritan settlements of New England without an understanding of the Reformation? And how do you understand the Reformation without studying Huss, Wycliffe, Augustine, etc.? This pealing back only stops when you get to the beginning creation.
