Time Traveller books form a children's introduction to life long ago. The books deal mainly with the more exciting aspects of every day life-journeys, feasts and battles. These are specially chosen to show how life is changed and shaped by historical events.
The Time Traveller Book of Viking Raiders is set in Southern Norway in the late 9th century - a time when Norwegian Vikings were still raiding and killing in Britain and Ireland. They were also leaving Norway to settle in the Orkney, Shetland and Faroe Islands and Iceland. The book sets out to explain in simple language what it was like to live at that time. Besides their home life, it shows the Vikings as traders, explorers, warriors, skilled ship-builders and navigators.
The characters introduced in the book are fictional, but all the illustrations are the result of wide and careful research.
