The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Selma could get no information about trolls from her older sister, Sigrid. But when she went to visit the Widow Paulsson high up in the mountains, the old woman filled her with fearful thoughts about these creatures; they steal animals, she said, and sometimes a child for its bright golden hair.

When she was at last old enough, Selma went with Sigrid to tend the goats in the mountain pasture. There she learned the secret about trolls as late one afternoon she heard the lowing of their cows and saw their golden houses in the mountains.

Miss Coatsworth's lyric simplicity, perfectly complemented by Ursula Arndt's delicate drawings, will excite the imagination of young listeners and readers alike.
