The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Deep jungle with creeping and crawling wild life—strange, suspicious natives—unreliable guides—sudden, unexpected disaster—these are the backgrounds of an exciting adventure story. Chad Powell wanted to be an ornithologist, and this trip with his father into the "Thunder Country" of Venezuela, while they searched for rare bird specimens, was a wonderful experience. But they had not counted on an airplane crash or the loss of their guides, and their expedition was often close to disaster. Their bird hunt also became a manhunt as they searched for an engineer who had mysteriously disappeared. Here is adventure and suspense to satisfy the most ardent reader of spine-tingling stories.

Armstrong Sperry is well-known for tales of strange appealing places. The Venezuelan jungle is quite as mysterious and fascinating as The Rain Forest of New Guinea, where Chad Powell had his earlier adventure. Mr. Sperry's many beautiful drawings fill in the backgrounds of both these stories.
