Tripp was born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1946. After high school he furthered his education by graduating from Geneva College with a BA, Philadelphia Theological Seminary with a M Div, and Westminster Theological Seminary with a D Min. With wife Margy, Tripp founded Immanuel Christian School and continues to serve on its board. Since 1983 he has pastored at Grace Fellowship Church where he is currently the senior pastor. Much of Tripp's fame comes from the book he co-authored with Margy entitled Shepherding a Child's Heart. His personal ministry is speaking worldwide about the book and teaching the material in conferences for parents. They have also written Instructing a Child's Heart to complement their former work.
