Staton Rabin

Rabin's parents named her in 1958 after her Russian great grandfather, and she grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson in New York. With a mother who was a graphic artist and a father who wrote children's books, she found encouragement in making movies as a child. Later she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in film from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Taking after her father, Rabin began penning children's nonfiction when she landed a job writing for a children's encyclopedia. She then published her first book and has since written historical fiction books such as Betsy and the Emperor. Also included in her resume is her work as a freelance story analyst for screenwriters and film producers, a senior writer for Scr(i)pt magazine, a contributor to other magazines and books, instructor of her given professions, and a guest speaker. Rabin continues to write and work in the film industry.
