Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr were three little boys who lived in Sweden. They had blue eyes and yellow curls, and they looked very much alike.

On their way home from school one day, they saw a wonderful yellow sled in a shop window. The next day, they started doing lots of extra work around the house so they could earn it.

The boys soon earned enough money. But when they arrived at the shop, they found a sad little boy whose family could not afford a sled. So Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr thought of a wonderful surprise.

Originally published in the United States in 1936, Snipp, Snapp, Snurr and the Big Surprise was one of a series of treasured books created by Swedish author-artist Maj Lindman (1886-1972). She also wrote and illustrated stories about three little Swedish girls, Flicka, Ricka, and Dicka.

Today's young readers will find the warm, wholesome stories of these busy, independent children quaint, but immensely satisfying.
