Once there lived a good King. His wife was dead but he had seven children, six boys and one girl, whom he loved above all else in the world. When he married again, however, his new wife hated her stepchildren and plotted to get rid of them. She changed the boys into swans but she had not reckoned on the courage of their sister. The little princess was determined to break the spell that bound her brothers, even though she had to pay a terrible price.
