Marchette Chute (born 1909) is one of three famous writing sisters from Minnesota who gained an interest in English history and literature from their English mother. For Marchette Chute that interest led to a series of books about England's literary history, books that include works for adults and young people. Chute's best-known work is Shakespeare of London, which brings Shakespeare's life, times, and theater to vivid life. In the book, Chute explores the life of an actor in the days of the Globe, the theater where many of Shakespeare's plays were first performed.
