Seymour Reit

Reit was born on November 11, 1918 in New York.  He later attended the New York University and earned his degree.  During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces, becoming a camofleur and a photo intelligence officer.  Reit received the Bronze Star Medal, and after returning home, he worked as a cartoonist and animator.  One character he created that he will always be remembered for was Casper the Friendly Ghost.  A writer, an editor, and a contributor to magazines and television shows such as "Captain Kangaroo", Reit showed talent.  He wrote The Day They Stole the Mona Lisa and won an award for an educational comic book.  Reit passed away on November 21, 2001.
