A teacher, writer, and speaker, Tucker was born on July 17, 1945 in Spooner, Wisconsin to parents Percy and Jennie. She graduated from LeTourneau College with a bachelor's degree, from Baylor University with a master's degree, and from Northern Illinois University with a PhD in history. As an educator she taught at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for about twenty years before being hired as the only female teacher at Calvin Theological Seminary in the school's history. She left in 2006. This author of seventeen books and a member of the Reformed Church of America touches people through her works on Christian life. By talking of her own struggles with doubt and researching famous people who have turned away from their faith only to later rediscover it or forever shy away from it, Tucker presents thoughtful and authentic viewpoints in her book
Walking Away from Faith. Her most recent work is
God Talk, and Tucker continues to write from her home in Michigan where she lives with her husband John Worst.
