This soft cover workbook is intended for Grade 2, with 5 chapters and 30 lessons. It covers many countries over the world and introduces the child to other cultures and people. It also introduces the world map and oceans of the world. The book is written in a delightful story format. A story about a child from each continent is told. Some other basic geography is covered. There are black line pictures to colour in, maps to label and exercises after each lesson. Sometimes the exercises are in a fun format such as a cross word. Some lessons are for review. New words are written in bold and a pronounciation guide is given in brackets. At the back of the book are new word exercises. The teachers guide will further extend this course. Four stars for a cost effective social studies course that leans slightly heavily towards geography at this level.
