The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Since 1520, stories have been written about the brave, gallant Robin Hood and his band of merry men who lived as outlaws in Sherwood Forest in the North of England. But already for centuries before people had been celebrating in song and ballad the exploits of Robin, Alan-a-Dale, Friar Tuck, and others of that daring band that robbed the rich to feed the poor.

Generations of telling have not dulled the excitement of these adventures, and McSpadden in this edition has lost none of the flavor of the tales he spins.

In her Introduction, May Lamberton Becker says of Robin Hood that "he and his companions have gone right on living to this day. There is something about their way of life that charms everyone, old or young. No wonder this book is a children's classic; all sorts of children have made it so."

The illustrations of Louis Slobodkin are full of bounding vitality and fun—perfectly suited to the exciting times and adventures they picture.

The entire internet seems to think this book was originally published in 1891. However, McSpadden was born in 1874, so would only have been 17 at that date, and I can't find an earlier version in existence than 1923 (illustrated by Charles Wilson). It has been reprinted in full by Dover, and in an abridged form by Unicorn Press (illustrated by Greg Hildebrandt).
