In May 1775 two boys participate in the capture of Fort Ticonderoga by Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys and befriend a young British soldier.

Two beardless boys with rabbit guns wait in the dark of a 1775 night, to mix in with Ethan Allen's Green Mountain Boys, ready to assault the British fort at Ticonderoga. Secretly, they join this ragged little army of Vermont farmers, row across Lake Cham- plain, to wade a foggy swamp.
