R. B. Kuiper

Born in 1886 in the Netherlands, Kuiper's family emigrated to the United States, settling in Michigan. Kuiper grew up and became well-educated, receiving degrees from the University of Chicago, Indiana University, and Princeton Seminary. After pastoring in western Michigan for seventeen years, Kuiper turned to teaching. He taught theology at Westminster Seminary before taking the position of president at Calvin College. Wanting to return to preaching and teaching, Kuiper instructed students on practical theology for twenty years at Westminster Seminary. He then served as president of Calvin Seminary. A prolific writer, Kuiper penned God-Centered Evangelism, among his other works. On April 22, 1966, he passed away at age 80.
