The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!
Mr. and Mrs. Opie have been collecting and studying the lore of childhood for nearly twenty years. They are the editors of The Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes, which gives history of the rhymes, and the Oxford Nursery Rhyme Book, which brings together 800 traditional rhymes. They also wrote The Lore and Language of Schoolchildren. Their work has brought them worldwide recognition, and several awards.
The Opies have three children, and live in a Victorian family house in Hampshire, which, as a necessary milieu to their studies, is steadily being filled with old and rare children's books, toys, games, pictures, and the paraphernalia of bygone nurseries.
