They don't bite, they aren't slimy, they don't slither, and they are kind of cute – to some people, anyway. They're pillbugs, or sow bugs or roly-polies or isopods. Whatever you call them, they're perfect classroom pets to introduce students to what science is really all about – learning directly from the world around them.
