When Peter Pan flies into the home of the Darling children it is only the beginning of their magical adventures with Peter, the boy who-doesn't-want-to-grow-up; the fairy Tinker Bell; the evil Captain Hook; and other memorable characters.
Written as a play, and only then converted to a book, Peter Pan has long held appeal to children and adults alike. If you want to know Barrie's character as really intended, you must read the book and not just watch a movie.
Unlike the Disney version, the pirates and Indians don't just chase each other around. If your reader is a younger one, be warned that there are allusions to real violence.
