Paula Fox

Paula Fox

Born in New York in 1923, Paula Fox began writing books for children in the sixties. By 1978, her contribution to children's literature was such that the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) awarded her the Hans Christian Andersen Medal, a bienniel award for an author's entire body of work. Two of Ms. Fox's most famous books for children are the Newbery Medal winning The Slave Dancer and One-Eyed Cat, a Newbery Honor book. She is also the author of several books for adults, including Desperate Characters: A Novel and Borrowed Finery: A Memoir. She resides in Brooklyn, NY.
