This book, unlike most Henty books, has less history, and more story. In fact if you don't look for it, you don't notice any history at all. It is a very good story about these settlers who live farther out than anlyone else in the neighborhood. They plant many different crops and buy lots of cattle. They have indian troubles in which the daughter is captured. After she is rescued, they make a few trips back to England, everyone gets married and lives happily ever after to the end of their days.
