One Life At a Time

In a remote area of Vietnam, a guilt-ridden mother stands over a tiny, shallow grave. There are no flowers. No crowd of well-wishers. No shiny black limousines. She has just buried her baby boy, and she is alone. He wasn't sick. He wasn't injured. She has buried him alive. In Ethiopia another lonely mother grieves. Famine has struck again. During the last one she watched her husband and seven children slowly starve to death. She has come to a feeding station for her monthly ration. She sets the food down and searches for someone to help her carry it back to their village. When she returns, the food is gone. Someone has stolen it. Stories of despair? Not at all. They would be were it not for the compassion or ordinary people, bringing hope to the hopeless and food to the hungry. For forty years World Vision's mission has been to change the endings of stories like these. ONE LIFE AT A TIME is a collection of stories from around the world. Stories of individuals. True stories.
