The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Meet Julia—one of the most interesting and amusing characters who ever found her way into our literature. Kindhearted, incautious and impulsive, just barely old enough to have a grown daughter, she continually finds herself in situations that only Julia could get into—or out of.

Susan, her daughter, has been brought up "properly" by her grandparents. When a suitor appears on her horizon, she promptly sends for her mother. Julia—after becoming involved with five trapeze artists on the way—arrives and finds that Susan is a prig, though a lovely one, and that her fiancé is one of her own "kind"—which will never do. When Sir William enters the scene, the situation becomes too complicated, even for Julia.

The result is a witty, delightful and often hilarious novel—and Julia who is not easily forgotten once you have met her.
