Most of us know the National Education Association is fundamentally bankrupt—few of us know the causes, the extent or even the true nature of that bankruptcy well enough to defend our position against it. Samuel Blumenfeld's NEA: Trojan Horse in American Education is the first full-length exposé written on the "political power second to no other special interest group."

Illuminating the origins and history of the NEA, Blumenfeld shows why public education in America had to become an indoctrination machine, and catalogs the many manifestations this propaganda has assumed. Fueled by humanism, animosity toward religion, and the need to eliminate individualism and creative thinking, the NEA has systematically made war on freedom, truth and morality since its inception in 1857.

This isn't merely a tirade, however, nor is it wholly pessimistic. But Blumenfeld's proposed action is not intended to purify the NEA, but to lead a mass exodus away from it. His strategy is simple: Christians need to combat the NEA politically, while taking their children out of public schools and putting them in Christian schools or homeschooling them. As pertinent now as on its initial publication in 1984, this is a book every American parent needs to read.

Review by C. Hollis Crossman
C. Hollis Crossman used to be a child. Now he's a husband and father who loves church, good food, and weird stuff. He might be a mythical creature, but he's definitely not a centaur. Read more of his reviews here.
