A mechanical designer, Peterman has worked in numerous jobs before settling down to create his own business, Insight Technical Education. He first came to writing and designing books while he struggled to find a way to teach his son how to draw. A homeschooling family, the Petermans went into business themselves in 1996 when Complete-A-Sketch was born. Peterman has a variety of books now in the Complete-A-Sketch series, as well as on drafting, on graphic design, and about accounting. These books all emphasize self-teaching, and Peterman keeps working to design new products.
