Marjorie Priceman

Marjorie Priceman

Priceman was born on January 8, 1958, on Long Island, New York. She later earned a degree in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. After spending time going from one job to the next, Priceman found help from a previous professor who encouraged her as she put together a picture book for children. As an author and illustrator Priceman has found success. In 1996 Priceman received the Caldecott Honor Award for Lloyd Moss's book Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin. Then in 2006 she earned another Caldecott Honor Award for her own book Hot Air. With bright water colors, free flowing lines, and a touch of humor, Priceman's illustrations come alive for the reader and threaten to jump off the page. This award-winning author lives and works from her home in Pennsylvania.
