This volume of practical advice on how to live a good life comes from the pen of Reverend Talmage, a man know in his day as the American Spurgeon. His sermons drew thousands to listen every week, and when he retired from preaching, he became the editor of the Christian Herald, an American weekly newspaper reporting on Christian topics and concerned with humanitarian causes around the world as well as in America.
Written three years before his death in 1902, the contents offer advice interspersed with examples from scripture and history extolling the virtues of sobriety, education, and clean living for both men and women.
