This is a fair book for girls between the ages of twelve and fourteen. Gresh and DeMoss attempt to get through the major categories of life, covering God, Satan, guys, relationships, faith, sin, media, and girls themselves. The book is filled with brightly covered graphics to keep kids interested, but this can devolve into trying too hard to be hip and relevant.

There are some genuinely helpful bits in this book that would be good for girls to hear. Sadly you'll have to wade through some shallowness, triteness, and misguided opinions to get at the positive stuff. Girls can practice discernment while reading it by thinking for themselves and not swallowing everything wholeheartedly.

Review by Lauren Shearer
Lauren Shearer writes words for fun and profit. She also makes films, but everyone knows you can't make a profit doing that. Her other hobby is consistently volunteering way too much of her time. You can read more of her reviews here.
