Interestingly, in the mentioned 1939 catalog, Jungle Babies doesn't appear in the general listing of Windermeres, but is shown at the end of the list under the heading of A Modern Windermere. 3 colored illustrations.

I do have an anomaly. The book on the right in the first picture looks almost exactly like a Windermere; it's a 1932 edition with a code of 3MB-32. However, nowhere on it does it say 'Windermere'. My Edition 4 says 'Windermere Series' on the spine, though it's never mentioned inside. The green copy is the same height but 5/8" wider, same number of pages and interior formatting is identical, endpapers are different. I wonder how this book fits in? Were they trying a prototype for something new? Maybe doing the series that would come out in the 1930s in green, not black? But since they made the book a bit wider, that's probably not why they did it. Hmm. Anyway, interesting.
