Constance Corbyn, with the aid of Robert Harbut, searches for evidence of her true father, aided also by the erstwhile heir to his estates, Philip Clitheroe. After many intrigues, her inheritance is proved. During the search, she falls in love with Philip, and they ultimately share the estate together.
