The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

From the dust jacket:

All the qualities of human understanding and the feeling for nature and horses which made My Friend Flicka and Thunderhead two of the most beloved novels of this generation are again shown by Mary O'Hara in this third volume of the story of the McLaughlin family.

Ken, the dreamy little boy who wanted his very own colt in My Friend Flicka, has grown into a sturdy, self-reliant youngster eagerly probing the fascinating mysteries of the grown-ups' world. His brother Howard is a West Point cadet, and a rollicking baby sister has arrived to give new interest and piquancy to life on Goose Bar Ranch.

The loss of a valuable racing mare, Jewel, brings into the circle on the ranch her attractive 'teen-age owner, Carey Marsh, of Philadel- phia. The search for the mare, which Thunderhead is suspected of taking into his wild brood, provides the dramatic events of the story and a rousing climax in which Ken finds that Carey has stolen the affections which his horses once monopolized. Carey's cantankerous and self-centered grandmother learns that she has no power to resist successfully the magical attraction which draws the two together.

This account of young love is developed with all of Miss O'Hara's skill and insight, against the magnificent backdrop of the sweeping plains and mountains of Wyoming.
