The Genre Challenge
We're busy working out the detail for the 2018 Summer Reading Program. Check back here or subscribe to our newsletter for updates. In the mean time, read on below for what we've done in the past!
A treasure map gives you clues that lead to treasure hidden in the ground. The genre map gives you clues that lead to great books hidden inside genres! Here's the challenge: find and read as many books as you can that fit the descriptions. Try to read at least one book in every genre. How many more you read is up to you! But if you really want a goal to work toward, we've listed three levels for each map, along with a prize for those who complete the most difficult level! (We gratefully acknowledge Tim Challies' reading challenge as the inspiration for these lists.)

Grades 1-2
To reach the status of Young Adventurer
Read 10 books and complete 4 bonus activities
Total: 14 points
To reach the status of Master Adventurer
Read 20 books and complete 10 bonus activities
Total: 30 points
To reach the status of Legendary Adventurer
Read books to complete all 30 topics, complete all 14 bonus activities, and write six book reviews (reviews must be 2+ sentences long)
Total: 50 points
To Claim a Prize:
1. Reach the status of Legendary Adventurer or Genre Legend
2. Be enrolled in our summer reading program
3. Send a list of the titles you've read and which topics they correspond to (along with links to the titles you've reviewed or pictures of three bonus activities you've completed) to readingchallenge@exodusbooks.com
4.We will send you a prize!
- Grades 1-2 will get a $10 gift certificate
- Grades 3-6 will get a $15 gift certificate
- Grades 7-12 will get a $25 gift certificate

Read one book in each genre and review four of them
Total: 13 points
To reach the status of Genre Master
Read two books in each genre and review eight of them
Total: 26 points
To reach the status of Genre Legend
Read three books in each genre and review thirteen of them
Total: 40 points
All reviews must be 4+ sentences long
