Ah, 1776. What a year. There's actually a book called "1776" that details the real-life events of that year focusing only on what actually happened in those 12 months. This is a bit more digestible, tying a few key events into the bigger picture all while unfolding an entertaining fictional story in the background. Its been awhile so I forget, I confess, what heroine Hope was actually doing. There's a reason I went to biographies, okay? I do remember that, by the end of the book, I had the basic timeline of the American Revolution stuck in my head forever, and was asking Mom if we had a copy of the Declaration of Independence I could read. Well worth it.
