Earthsea has lost its magic, its light. The land is dying, and only the Archmage Ged, who has traveled both sides of death more than once in his illustrious career, can make it alive again. With Prince Arren he sails beyond mere terrain into lands of mystery and ultimately to the very country of Death itself. What they find is an act of supreme selfishness that can only be counteracted by an act of pure selflessness, an act without which all Earthsea will die.
