Elie Wiesel

Elie Wiesel was born in Sighet, Transylvania, in 1928, and was still a child when he was sent to Auschwitz and later to Buchenwald. He lived in Paris after the war, working as a writer and journalist. He has received a number of awards, among them the Prix Medicis, the Prix Riparle, the Jewish Heritage Award, and the Remembrance Award,

Now an American citizen, Mr. Wiesel and his wife live in New York City, making regular visits to Paris and to Israel.
