Publisher description:

Buzz and Skippy have a secret. It is the first day of spring and the two boys have gone down to the pond. They have found eggs of things. Skippy's younger sister wants to know what the boys have in the pot. The boys will not tell her. But Buzz and Skippy are in for a surprise. The eggs of things are not fish and they are not frogs. Their eggs of things turned out to be a lucky surprise.

This story is told mostly in words taught in the first grade. New words are those necessary to the story, plus a few added for reading enrichment.
