October 2, 1900 — 28 years to the day that noted London eccentric, Phileas Fogg accepted and then won a £20,000 bet that he could travel Around the World in 80 Days. Now at the dawn of the century it is time for a new impossible journey. Some old friends have gathered to celebrate Fogg's impetuous and lucrative gamble—and to propose a new wager of their own. The stakes: $1 Million in a winner-takes-all competition. The objective: to see which of them can travel by rail to the most cities in North America—in just 7 days.

Ticket to Ride USA is a cross-country train adventure. Players collect cards of various types of train cars that enable them to claim railway routes connecting cities throughout North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn. Additional points come to those who can fulfill their Destination Tickets by connecting two distant cities, and to the player who builds the longest continuous railway. So climb aboard for some railroading fun and adventure. You've got a Ticket to Ride!

  #1 Family Game
Joseph of Oregon, 2/14/2013
This is a wonderful family game, or an introduction to the gaming world beyond Monopoly and Uno. Very easy to teach and understand, plays in around an hour, plays 2-5 players, you can play nice or competitively and mean, there's good art, and you learn a little geography! With over 1,000,000 copies sold, this game has established itself as new classic. Highly recommended!
If you get hooked on the USA map, there's growing number of maps available (Europe, Nordic Countries, Africa, Switzerland, Asia, Germany, and India). There's also a small expansion that gives a little more variety and includes bigger cards (the cards that come in this base version are hobbit sized).
  A Simple, Fun Game!

To play, each person gets three routes to choose from, and you can keep them all, or discard one. Then you go about picking up the color of track that you'll need to fill the route (you can only pick up two at a time, or one rainbow card per turn). When you get enough cards, you use a turn to put out your cars on the track. You get points each time you do this, and the longer the track, the more points. The game ends when one person gets down to only two cars... and everyone gets one more turn!
This is a game with a fun balance of chance (you don't know what cards will turn up next) and strategy (you choose how many routes you want to make and try to fill them). It's simple, easy to learn, and fast paced! Each person's turn takes less than a minute most of the time... which is good because you're itching lay your next track!
  A Good Family Night Game
Callie of Missouri, 4/11/2011
We recently received this game and it has been a big hit in our house. We have played the Europe version and this one is easier for younger kids to play. Our six-year-old plays it by himself, but our four-year-old needs a lot of help. There is strategy and planning involved which makes it challenging and fun. It has been a good game for my six-year-old and eight-year-old to learn how to make a plan and work to achieve it. It is fun for adults and older kids as well. All in all, it can be a fun way to spend an hour or two together as a family.
