For the true Tintin aficionado...

Tintin in the Land of the Soviets and Tintin Au Congo were the very first two Tintin books written in the early 1920's. However, because they are not up to the same quality standard as the rest of the series (Soviets was never redone like some of the others and is still in black & white) or are politically incorrect (i.e., Herge's racist portrayal of Africans and Tintin's hunting of elephants for their ivory), they have not been considered part of the Tintin "canon," and are rarely available. We have yet to see Tintin Au Congo published both in color and in English in the same edition (the version we carry is in French).

Tintin and Alph-Art was the very last book Herge was writing before he died in 1982. It is basically an incomplete sketchbook of the last Tintin adventure. These three are not included in this bundle but are available separately.

The Tintin books provide that rare combination of high-quality illustrations with an engaging and intellectually satisfying storyline. One of my goals with books for my children was to find those which would be as appealing to me as they were to them, and the Tintin books meet that goal. They are humorous without being silly, and provide an enjoyable adventure experience for all ages. Even as adults my children still enjoy them!
