  I Love Alternative Solutions

If you Google "clean with vinegar" or "...lemons" or "...baking soda" you will come up with pages of recipes, methods and tips for free. But this book gives it to you all in one place and from a source you know you can trust. I'm not trying to "go green" in my house and (dare I say it) I don't really think about what happens to everything that gets washed down my drains (sorry fish). However, I do like to be cheap and I do have vinegar and baking soda on hand. This book makes it easy for me to find alternative options for everything from cleaning the stove to removing stains.

So far I have only mixed up a couple of all purpose spray-type cleaning solutions (water, vinegar, castille soap, and essential oils) but I refer to it quite often as other jobs come up.

I loved this book! It has a great layout that is easy to navigate and find the section you want. The chapters include the ingredients, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, etc... For the record, the list of ingredients includes far more than just lemon, baking soda and vinegar. In the various chapters there are recipes for making your own cleaners. While I don't have time to do everything she suggests, I do use some of the recipes. And I love having this book around to reference when I have a specific job, like scrubbing the bathtub. And since I have a lot of little 'helpers', it's nice to be using cleaning material that I don't have to worry about them touching strong chemicals.
She is definitely heavier on the environmental side than I am, but I appreciate her point of view.
So for a guide to the majority of your household cleaning needs, this is a great book to have.
