The coolest part of this game is the artwork. No, the coolest part of this game is the fact that players work together for a common goal rather than against each other. Well, the theme is pretty rad, too--a bunch of adventurers are trying to rescue ancient treasures of a lost civilization before the island they're on sinks into the ocean. The treasure pieces are gnarly. The fact that the board chages every time you play is pretty tubular.
Okay, the whole game is awesome. As in, it rocks.
That's basically it—players collaborate as adventurers to get four ancient treasures and themselves off a sinking island before the encroaching waters swallow them alive. Plan together, work together, try not to die together. Even dedicated competitors will enjoy the change of pace. Really. We've played with the most cutthroat gamers in the land, and they loved Forbidden Island.
Don't play with someone who's mad at you, though. They tend to throw wrenches in the works every chance they get. Or better yet, just ignore them and have a good time anyway. The replay value is incredibly high, the rules are simple to learn, and gameplay is intuitive. All around one of the best and most versatile selections in our collection so far.

Review by C. Hollis Crossman
C. Hollis Crossman used to be a child. Now he is a husband and father, teaches adult Sunday school in his Presbyterian congregation, and likes weird stuff. He might be a mythical creature, but he's definitely not a centaur. Read more of his reviews here.
