Story Background:

A jolly cook named Ned has an adorable, but extremely naughty, cat whose name is Meg. Meg loves to get in all the trouble she can. In this story Meg romps along causing a ruckus in the kitchen, sending poultry flying for their lives and jumping on the heads of unsuspecting fishermen.

Ned has had quite enough of his cat's escapades and shuts her up, only to find out how much he really needs her when the rats take advantage of the cat's absence and pillage the pantry.

In the end Ned realizes how much he loves and needs his rotund feline, deciding she isn't so bad after all.

But is he right?
