When George finds a gigantic egg in his mother's chicken house, he knows that it is his responsibility to keep it warm and read it stories until it hatches. But when the great day comes, out pops a dragon! The boy does his best to act as the dragon's mother and instruct him in all that he needs to know about being a dragon. But despite all of the useful lessons that George teaches the dragon—how to fly, breathe fire, defeat knights, and so on—there's still something missing from the dragon's life. Can George help the dragon to find what's missing, or is this something that the dragon must do for himself?
This gentle, amusing fantasy is charmingly told and beautifully illustrated by M. P. Robertson.
