Wishing to be a bird, a boy learns that there are drawbacks to every situation—the bird wishes he were a fish, who wishes he were a turtle, who wishes he were a frog. . . The rhyming text leads the reader full-circle, back to the conclusion that being a boy may actually be the best of all.
