Core Skills: Language Arts provides your child with the tools to master language skills. The easy-to-follow format presents only one skill per page, beginning with the grammatical rule and specific examples that model the activities to follow. Varied exercises allow the learner to practice each skill in different contexts.
These books also feature a strong writing section. Helpful tips and targeted activities strengthen the writing skills necessary to succeed on standardized tests. With Core Skills: Language Arts, today's preparation improves tomorrow's performance.
We don't recommend these as a stand-alone curriculum, but they have proven helpful for review or for preparing for tests. They cover a wide variety of skills and include enough instruction for many children to grasp concepts they may not have heard of already, but they do not offer enough review to use by themselves.
Review by C. Hollis Crossman
C. Hollis Crossman used to be a child. Now he is a husband and father, teaches adult Sunday school in his Presbyterian congregation, and likes weird stuff. He might be a mythical creature, but he's definitely not a centaur. Read more of his reviews here.
