The Clockwork Twin by Walter R. Brooks is a charming story that features many of the beloved characters from the Freddy series. Adoniram lives with his cruel aunt and uncle until a chance flood leads him to the irrepressible Freddy and Jinx the Cat. When the animals hear of his unhappy life, they convince him to come live at the Bean Farm. Mr. and Mrs. Bean are delighted to meet Adoniram and Mr. Bean's brother even builds him a mechanical playmate. All goes well until his aunt and uncle come to get him back and accidentally take the clockwork twin home instead. A great adventure ensues, complete with disguises, long lost relatives, and a trip to a far off gypsy camp. In the end, everyone is reunited and Freddy and his friends have once again saved the day.
